We took Ellie skiing for the first time yesterday. Here's a list of what she loved about the day and what she hated about it. Oh, let's start with hated--it's so much easier.
Hated
1. Putting on her ski boots
2. How her socks and pants bunched up when she put on her ski boots
3. Putting on her jacket
4. Putting on her mittens
5. How her jacket bunched up every time she put on her mittens
6. How cold it was outside
7. The chair lift, which she refused to get on
8. The conveyor belt thingy that takes you to the top of the bunny hill, which she also refused to get on unless Greg picked her up and placed her on top of it
9. Unlatching her ski boots from the skis
10. How snow flurries blew onto her face off the roof of the lodge
11. People looking at her after she fell on the conveyor belt and lost her ski and pole
12. Us telling her that she has to ski because we paid a lot of money and they won't give us a refund, dagnabit
Loved
1. Skiing
2. Drinking hot chocolate
So to sum up, she hated every single moment of skiing except the skiing part. And she was so good at it! She had perfect balance and control. Greg and I were so frustrated. She would whine and complain about having to go up the hill, we'd drag her up to the top, she'd ski down perfectly, then she'd whine and complain about doing it again.
She did say she wanted to go skiing again, which is amazing given how much of the day she spent crying. But I guess she was able to push aside all the annoying and scary parts and embrace the fun part. I think she will end up enjoying it a lot.
Right before we took the skis back, Greg took the chair lift up to the top of the big hill and skied down while Ellie and I sat on the practice hill watching and cheering for him. He looked like a professional!

Oh, yay, such a funny post and such a cute kid.
Ditto! Wonder what she will do the next time you go skiing?
It's great that you are introducing her to all of the fun winter adventures. I'm sure she forgot the annoying things and just remembers the enjoyment of skiing. Heck, she may even win the Gold Medal someday! :)
We want to get out another couple times this winter. Just waiting for the weather to cooperate.
Ellie just said yesterday, "I'm a good skier". Good thing she has no problem with confidence
